Mother of all relationships

If necessity is the mother of all inventions, then 'need' is the mother of all relationships!Sounds very true when we reflect the perspective of today's relationships.
In a cosmopolitan lifestyle in India, every relationship- be it a Mother-son, Father-Daughter, Girlfriend-Boyfriend, brother-sister- or any other relationship for that matter. The basis for all relationships at some stage of the relationship is "need". A son 'needs' his mother's care; a daughter 'needs' her father's money; a girlfriend 'needs' her guy's time (& in most instances, even money).

Sadly, in an IT-driven economy and global/cosmopolitan cultural influences, today's relationships have become perniciously need-based. A Son in today's time 'needs' his mother to take care of the household, cook, nurse the kids, and keep the house. The worst part is that the mother, though selfless, does not even get paid for all the services!!
Youth today, ignoring the cultural, social & emotional intricasies of relationships, get into it for pure need of sex. After-all 'need' is the mother of all relationships today!

It is sad that we learn the value of something once we lose it, sometimes forever.
Thinking about the yester-years, when the economy was not-so-booming and sought-after jobs meant Govt. jobs, lifestyles were simple and relationships were intricate. People respected the relationship and valued them. It was not all that 'need-based'. And comparitively, the number of smiles then, were more than they are today.

The good-old-days when it dint cost much to smile, when simple things could and would bring beaming smiles to pretty faces. Today we're spending more money than we did then, but are less happy now than we were then. Simplicity, i guess is the key...
We live in a need-based world where relationships are created, and are more easily broken- based on our needs. When all seems gloomy and there's a shadow cast over our heads, a spark of hope tells you that things will get better.

In the need-based life that we are in today, i pray, let us live for the greatest human need of all- Love.
