Are you Game?

An Eye for an eye...

The new philosophy is far from it. Now when boundaries are mearging and walls are falling, people are uniting.

In the 21st century, people need to unite against the global threat of 'Terrorism'. In a world today where capitalism still exists in the garb of 'economic liberalization', one country's economic interests fuel the aggression of another nation's 'terroristic instincts'...

It is now that we need to unite to fight the root cause of Terrorism... economic conglomeration by a few super-rich countries whose greed for resources trigger the response of culural and social sentiments of the 'not-so-rich' nations...

Are you game? Its about being self-sufficient... about shunning anything not produced locally... about not buying anything 'imported'! Its a tough ask, but its a sure way to reduce a lot of our domestic problems...

Dinner with Friends

Dinner seemed even more colorful and festive on the Anantha Padmanabha Vratha amidst friends from college.

Wednesday was a good evening and felt more like a Sunday with a very casual atmosphere and a pleasant gathering...

Looking forward to more of such evenings... Posted by Picasa

A Minaret falling apart

The famous Qutub Minar of Delhi stands tall in the dusty, polluted skyline of the bustling metropolis.

The Minaret, once the pride of the capital, is now a monument slowly falling apart...

Seen here is a valiant efforts of the authorities to restore its splendor... Posted by Picasa

Mr Bean's One-liners

Ø Until I was 13, I thought my name was 'Shut Up.'
Ø I'm not afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens.
Ø Always and never are two words you should always remember never to use.
Ø I've never been drunk, but often I've been over served.
Ø The road to success is always under construction.
Ø I say no to drugs -- they just don't listen!
Ø Marriage is one of the chief causes of divorce.
Ø Work is fine if it doesn't take up too much of your time.
Ø When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
Ø Born free; Taxed to death.
Ø Everyone has a photographic memory; some people just don't have film.
Ø Life is unsure; always eat your dessert first.
Ø Smile -- it makes people wonder what you're up to.
Ø I love being a writer... what I can't stand is the paperwork.
Ø A printer consists of 3 main parts: the case, the jammed paper tray and the blinking red light.
Ø The hardest part of skating is the ice.
Ø The guy who invented the first wheel was an idiot; the guy who invented the other three, he was the genius.
Ø The trouble with being punctual is that there's no one there to appreciate it.
Ø If our constitution allows us free speech, why are there phone bills?
Ø If you tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe, he'll believe you. But if you tell him a park bench has just been painted, he has to touch it to be sure.
Ø Beat the 5 O'clock rush: leave work at noon!
Ø If you can't convince them, confuse them.
Ø It's not the fall that kills you; it's the sudden stop at the end.
Ø I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.
Ø Someday is not a day of the week
Ø When I was born, I was so surprised I didn't talk for a year and a half.

Kissing it out!

It's been scientifically proven that frequent kissing stabilizes cardiovascular activity, decreases high blood pressure, cholesterol and overall makes one's life better. The following is a medical account of this quite pleasant activity.

Dentistry
Kissing can substitute any chewing gum that fights plaque and cavity. The thing is, this occupation, namely kissing, is capable of preventing cavities, similar to toothpaste. Such phenomenon can be explained in the following way. Kissing stimulates profuse salivation which helps protect one’s teeth from cavity, since it contains calcium and phosphorus. In addition, passionate kissers are less likely to suffer from gingivitis. Also, saliva becomes neutral in the course of a kiss thus preventing teeth from a number of diseases.

Cosmetics
A passionate kiss causes tensions in more than 30 facial muscles. It helps to smooth out skin and increase blood circulation. Perhaps, it is better to kiss then use various creams and apply masks? Kissing would surely be more pleasant!

Diet
We lose no less than 12 calories during every passionate kiss. However, one does not have to be a love fanatic to lose a few extra pounds. Scientists claim that 3 kisses a day (20 seconds each) will be enough to make you lose an entire extra pound.
Anesthetic
The so–called endorphin hormone serves as an anesthetic. The more passionate the kiss, the more endorphin is being secreted. One kiss is enough to secrete a sedative dose of these hormones, which in fact exceeds a minimal dose of morphine. Also, another interesting aspect of kissing deals with antibiotics. In the course of a kiss, natural antibiotics are being secreted in saliva. They also possess anesthetic effect. Simply forget about painkillers and kiss, kiss, kiss!

Anti-stress therapy
A kiss prevents the initial formation of stress hormones—glucocorticoids. These are the exact hormones to be blamed for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, muscle weakening, and insomnia. Generally, a kiss can calm down one’s nervous system quite effectively and rid oneself of stress. That is why those who enjoy kissing are often optimists. In addition, kissing triggers massive adrenaline rush, which battles stress hormone hydrocortisone and grants us cheerful mood. Finally, at least three kisses a day leave you in a romantic, pleasant mood for no less than 24 hours.

Vaccination
Our saliva contains the most bacteria. About 80% of them are the same in all people. Nearly 20% of them are unique in every human being. Upon mixing with other particles in the partner’s mouth, they trigger various reactions of microorganisms. As a result, this gives one’s immune system an impulse to form certain antibodies. Scientifically speaking, this process is termed cross-immunotherapy.

Express analysis of genetic compatibility
This is no exaggeration! While you are kissing, your brain conducts instant chemical analysis of your partner's saliva and issues a “verdict” of your genetic compatibility. That's why do not take long until the first kiss. It is better to establish your compatibility right from the start.Overall, kissing has an incredibly positive effect on the organism. Those who kiss quite frequently are less likely to suffer from stomach, bladder, blood infections. Also, you can rid yourself of hiccups by means of…you guessed it—kissing!

A dog's life

A dog! A DOG! Yeah. A Dog is a man's best friend.
Imagine a day.. a real tiring, hard, full-of-work day.. when u get home late and accidentally forget to pick up milk from the grocer your girlfriend/wife (i'm not married yet!) told you to get. All hell breaks loose! On the other hand, your humble pet- your dog will look so cheerful, excited and anxious to greet you into your house- no matter how bad u treat it, no matter how much you ignore it, ignore walking him, ignore giving him a bath... no matter what! Your dog will show you genuine affection when you come home.

My dog- Bruno! (the one in the picture- the one above) behaves every evening when i get home, as if he's seeing me after 20 years and is soooooooooo excited to see me! He actually shows genuine warmth and love. I think humans aren't capable of that!

As somebody one quoted, "If love is blind, only Dogs are capable of blind love, cos no matter how ugly you look, how bad you smell or how poor you are your dog will love you un-conditionally, which is not possible for humans!"
So... your dog is your real friend!

I am in awe, of the pure love and loyalty a pet can bestow. If only humans could love like animals..

Time...

Remember the last time when you took a deep breath and enjoyed the scenery? The time when you drenched in the rain.. probably singing.. and just would await the next rain to do it again? The time when you had a lot of time on your hands to call up & meet up with buddies to catch that latest blockbuster? The time when you could afford to while time away!! Where have those days gone?

Today I see all my friends & me running to catch up with the world around.. running in this mad race to make money.. running to keep up and running to get caught up in a web of complexities life throws at us.

Take a break and look back at the days of glory, of friendship, of college, of high-school, of proms, of first-dates, of the spring rains and moonlit walks...

ITS ironic that we spend a great deal of time at the cost of our HEALTH to make a great deal of money.. and then much later we spend that MONEY to restore all that 'Health' back!

I resolve that in future, once in a while i'll make a detour just to enjoy that scenery, i'll unfold my umbrella once in a while when its raining, i'll take time off and call up my buddies even if it is only to say 'Hi', i'll slow down a bit and respect time... enjoy it while it lasts!
Thats my resolution. whats yours?

The "right" Company

An old chinese saying- "A dew drop when settles on a lotus leaf, shines like a pearl; but if falls into the pond, loses its identity."

Its very true that the company you move with shows where you stand! Your friends are the people who influence your habits and shape your persona.

Also, when i think of the lotus leaf, one thing comes into my mind. The leaf always is in water, yet it is so detached-never gets wet. If we all can live life like the lotus leaf- not have any attachments in life, we can become 'learned' overnight. But is it so simple that we can be detached?!?

Light

Its often said that light is knowledge, rather compared to it... I mean Knowledge is the light that rids the world of the darkness of ignorance... confused?!
Light...Talking about light, I mean the electromagnetic spectrum of wich we merely percieve a fraction of. Ultimate source of the light is the cosmic energy which is simply being converted from one form to the other... The holy scriptures of India refer to the cosmic energy or the spiritual energy as the Creator. And when we are at harmony with ourself, we are one with this cosmic energy...
Light.. the visible part of it (VIBGYOR) is a myriad of colors and hues that become the optical fantasy we are treated to in everyday life, the one that we so much take for granted.
Light.. the weight of a container when its empty...
Light... the phrase we associate in india very often when telling people to 'take it easy'- "light le rey".
Light... in the absence of which even the gifted become blind...
